Wee Ping's journey of battling cancer and living life is an inspiration to many.
Since young, Wee Ping has developed a keen interest in art. In 1993, she was awarded the EDB-Takashimaya Scholarship to study art and design in Japan. Wee Ping found her love for watercolour after experimenting with different mediums. Whenever she paints with watercolors, she is always surprised by what she discovers. To her, every brush stroke of her art piece is a reflection of her triumphant fight over cancer, each and every day! Every piece of artwork is a celebration of life. - Chun Wee Ping Wee Ping is suffering from Stage 4 cancer and continues with her treatment. In spite of what she is going through, Wee Ping never once let her cancer stop her from pursuing her passions nor change her life. She continues to paint, to teach and to share her life experience with people who relate to her experience, inspiring other cancer warriors to stay positive in their lives. In 2018, Wee Ping took part in the fundraiser event “A Journey of Hope” in support of Singapore Cancer Society. The event, organised by the Guardant Health AMEA, featured 12 paintings by Wee Ping and raised a total amount of $13,500 from the online auction alone. |
Always Looking Up is one of the many inspirational watercolour pieces painted by Wee Ping depicting her cancer journey. In the painting, she portrays herself as a girl wearing a hat and painting the sunflowers behind the fence. In her artwork, she write about what she learns from the spirit of sunflowers, “Sunflowers always look up towards the light; I try to look up always like sunflowers do.” |
